MAY CLASS – Razzleberry Splash Stack

I’ve got something a bit different for the class this month – we’ll be experimenting with one of Stampin’ Up!’s Simply Scrappin’ Kits. These kits are great for scrapbooking but in this class we’ll use it to make cards. We’ll make a stack of projects all using the Razzleberry Splash kit and you’ll get to take the rest of the pack home to make more or to experiment with on your own.

The full kit (valued at $37.70 including delivery) is included in the $40 class fee and contains:
3 sheets of 12″ x 12″ cardstock stickers (1 of each design)
6 sheets of 12″ x 12″ patterned paper (3 of each design)
8 sheets of 12″ x 12″ cardstock (2 of each colour)
The gorgeous colours are Lucky Limeade, Night of Navy, Pink Pirouette and Rich Razzleberry.

THE CLASS PROJECTS USE LESS THAN HALF THE KIT

SO YOU’LL HAVE LOADS LEFT TO PLAY WITH!

  Thursday 9th MAY

8pm – 11pm

NARRE WARREN

$40 per person (including kit)

OR

Friday 10th MAY

10am – 1pm

NARRE WARREN

$40 per person (including kit)

Children able to entertain themselves in the next room are welcome!

Get ready to be busy for this class because we’ll be making 6 full-sized cards…

This is one of my favourites – the die-cut sticker sheets make it so easy. I especially like all the border strips!

And if 6 cards wasn’t enough, we’ll also be making 6 mini cards…

…as well as a cute little holder to keep them in.

It’s super easy and made by folding a single sheet of patterned paper. I came up with it while playing around with some paper scraps on my desk and I love that it doesn’t require any cutting or adhesive! Here’s the inside:

My fish are thankful for MDS

My first creative project upon my return was to have a go with My Digital Studio (MDS) – see this post for more information.

I started by downloading this free card template called Fruit & Flowers. It’s so sweet I could have used it just as it is but I had a specific purpose in mind – and I couldn’t resist the idea of tinkering.

So with a few quick changes – that were so much easier than I’d been expecting – I turned it into this!

My mission was to make a card for my fish to give to the fish-sitters who kept them safe and happy while we were away. Reece is a big goldfish and Zebzee is his little mate. I loved how I could use the same digital stamp from the included Patterned Pets set to represent both fish. You simply drag to change their size and click to change their colour. I added a few water splashes and swapped out the greeting and I was done.

Then all l I needed to be ready to deliver it was print out the digital image and stick it down onto a More Mustard card base. How easy is that!

If you’d like to see what you can do with MDS, why not try out the 30-day free trial? What have you got to lose?

Cheers,

Genna

We’re back!

Wow, what a wonderful holiday we’ve had! I could do without getting sick within an hour of arriving home but I’m very grateful it had the decency to wait!

It was certainly a holiday to remember and we crafted some amazing memories I know will last a lifetime. I couldn’t have asked for more. We had soaring heatwaves on the beach, snow in the desert, volcanoes, canyons, and all manner of natural wonders as well as thrilling lights, sounds, sights and  theme parks. I don’t think we could have squeezed another minute of fun in anywhere! We filled a 32GB card with photos and videos so you’ll have to bear with me while I share just a few with you here….

Chilling on a beach for a luau in Hawaii with my three favourite boys brought back lovely honeymoon memories.

We showed the boys the very spot on the edge of the Grand Canyon where Alex proposed at sunrise 13 years ago!

We have a self-portrait of us taken in the same spot hanging on the wall.

My little cowboys were beside themselves with excitement at visiting the real Tombstone! Their dad was just as bad.

We took a brief stroll into Mexico too. We were so close, how could we not!

I’m already missing the sight of cactus. They become familiar quickly when you see thousands every day!

Guess where we went!!!! Truly the happiest place on Earth!

And in case you think I forgot all about creative things while we were away, think again…

 My character-filled boys in Hollywood!

My first attempt at cartooning with Goofy!

And how could I not purchase this ?

So that’s what I’ve been doing with my April, what about you? I’m looking forward to catching up with you all soon.

And I’ll be back shortly with a creative project to share.

Cheers,

Genna

Family holiday time!

Wonder hubby and I both turned 40 this year and we’re celebrating with a big overseas holiday with our boys.

We met last century while backpacking in the USA, went back there to get engaged and also honeymooned there so we have a bit of a soft spot for that big old place. We love to travel but just didn’t find it appealling with babies or small children so have hardly been anywhere in the past decade!  We realised a few years ago that this year would be the perfect year to hit the road again so we’ve been planning this trip for so long it’s hard to believe we’re actually going now.

We’ll be on the road for most of April, starting in Hawaii, then heading over for a road trip from Los Angeles to Arizona and back again in a great big circle. We’ll end the trip by doing all the big theme parks in California and we’re all so excited!

I will attempt to be in contact occasionally but can’t promise anything. This is a family trip after all. Have a wonderful month.

Cheers,

Genna

THE PRINTABLE PHOTO RECIPE CARD IS AVAILABLE TO MY NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIBERS. Subscribe for free today and let me know you’d like this one.

I loved the first card so much I had to keep playing and made a couple of other variations using a different stamp and some Daffodil Delight grosgrain ribbon and the Itty Bitty Banners stamps and framelits (below).

If you like what you see leave me a comment to let me know.

His Awesomeness Stamps

Would you believe that his awesomeness had never stamped before? In five years of me being a demonstrator I don’t think he’s ever put ink to rubber, let along make a whole card by himself.

Well that’s all changed now. And here’s the proof!

It was Mother’s Day in the UK yesterday and since his mother is visiting from England he decided he should mark the day in style. And because I had some lovely ladies over for a class and had all the supplies out he took us by surprise and joined us at the table. It was certainly a novelty and caused much amusement.

But… although we mocked, what he created was rather impressive. It might have been based on one of my designs but the work was all by his own fair hands.

And it was very much appreciated and enjoyed by his mum. And that’s what counts. Mr Awesome strikes again!

I’m sure the Wonder Husband would appreciate a few comments on this one – go on, you know you want to.

Cheers

The Tri-Shutter card features papers from the Birds of a Feather pack. And when it opens out there are some hidden surprises!

The mini milk carton is made using the Big Shot and is just perfect for filling with M&Ms or mini eggs so you can give just a small amount of chocolate  –  making it a great choice for those not wanting to overindulge or for the kids who’ll be getting bucket loads from everyone!

And finally, an elegant single ‘flower’ that’s good enough to eat!

This project is my newly designed version of one I’ve been demonstrating at workshops lately (see below) – which was inspired by my friend Kathryn Manglesdorf from Adelaide.

Never-ending Card for My Wonder Husband

His awesomeness turned 40 a few days ago so I had to make a special card. I chose a never-ending one! I’ve only made one of these before – in my pre-Stampin’ Up! days. They’re super easy and so much fun. I’ll be teaching my 3D Template Stamp Club how to make this type of card in our final class next month.

THE PRINTABLE PHOTO RECIPE CARD IS AVAILABLE TO MY NEWSLETTER SUBSCRIBERS. Subscribe for free today and let me know you’d like this one.

The card has four ‘sides’ and no back. Each panel has a unique way of opening.

Each time you try to look inside you find yourself cycling through all four sides…never reaching the end.

I filled each of the squares with words to describe Alex. Each square has a four words, containing the letters A, L, E & X. And there are 10 squares so 40 words in total.

It’s impossible to use still photos to show how the card actually folds so my son Zane and I created a video. Click on it below and see the magic for yourself.

So what did my Wonder Husband do to mark his big day? See if this photo gives you a clue:

Yep, you guessed it. He jumped out of a plane at 14,000 feet! And I was more nervous about him doing it than he was.

Happy Birthday Alex!

Another Punch Art Dog!

I taught a Punch Art class back in January featuring a little girl puppy. What I didn’t show you back then was that I’d made a boy version of the same puppy for my nephew’s 1st birthday card.

Here he is for his close up:

It was really simple to change him into a boy, just add a blue background, change the diamond collar for a blue ribbon, remove the bow from the hair, adjust the expression and take out the pink cheeks! That may sound like a lot of changes but all of them were really quick and easy. Take a look at them side by side to see the difference.

I love this dog and know I’ll be making more versions of him in the future. I wonder what I’ll need to do to make him look older?

Thanks for taking the time to visit ‘the Mess’. If you like what you see, leave me a comment.

Cheers
