Annual Catalogue Launch Update

This is what you missed!

A big thank you to everyone who came along to one of my three recent Catalogue Launch Parties!

The event was all to launch the latest Annual Catalogue,
and everyone who came got a free copy:

If you’re in Australia and you’d like me to post you a copy
just let me know!

If you didn’t make it this time, here’s a look at what it all involved.

When everyone arrived they were greeted with this table where you could browse the displays, have a look at some of the new products we weren’t using that day, as well as pick up some freebies and start getting your hands inky!

Everyone who came got a free sample bag of products including the five new In Colours, Catalogue tabs, and a word from the gorgeous Expressions Natural Elements packs.

Next you could try out the new charity stamp set Sprinkles of Life, and its matching punch.

All year long $3 from the purchase of this stamp set will go to Ronald McDonald House Charities.
We used it to make Ice Cream birthday tags:

Also at the freebie table was the chance to get to know the new In Colours by punching, stamping and taking the markers for a test drive:

Next was the chance to take part in the Card Buffet. Here are all the cards you could choose from. Each one had its own basket of supplies and tools and you could make as many or as few as you could find the time for.

Once you’d chosen your project you found a spot at the table, made some new friends and got creating. I love seeing everyone hard at work!

And here’s a closer look at all the projects in the buffet:

You’ve Got This – joint most popular card

Hey Girl

Skating By

A Whole Lot of Lovely  – very close runner up for most popular card!

Watercolour Words

Watercolour Wings – joint most popular card

It’s Wild & Happy Birthday Everyone – very close runner up for most popular card!

No Bones About It

Happy Notes & Gift Bag Punch Board

All up I had 24 lovely ladies come by,
and between them they made 69 cards from the buffet!

The two most popular cards were
You’ve Got This and Watercolour Wings,
but they only had one more in the tally than both
It’s Wild and A Whole Lot of Lovely!

No wonder I couldn’t predict which one
the favourite would be this year!!!

If you’re itching to have a go – or make a return visit – to my Card Buffet the next one will be with the launch of the Holiday Catalogue in September:

Thursday 17th September
Any time between 8pm and 11pm
NARRE WARREN

OR

Friday 18th September
Any time between 10am and 2pm

New Catalogue Blog Hop

It’s time for another Blog Hop with some of the very creative ladies on the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! team – one of the largest teams in Melbourne! But before I share my projects with you I also wanted to highlight the Join Stampin’ Up! Special that’s available until 30th June.

STARTER KIT
Normally great value at $169 for $235 worth of products
NOW EVEN BETTER
It’s still $169 but now you get $235 of the products of your choice
PLUS CHOOSE 2 STAMP SETS OF ANY VALUE

The Art With Heart team offers support, fun and friendship to anyone who would like to join us – whether you’re interested in being a Hobby Demonstrator or a Business Demonstrator, or anything in between. It’s up to you and we’re here to share your journey in whatever form it takes.

Now on with the hop. Welcome to all those who’ve just come from Kayleen McLean’s blog. With the new catalogue starting this month what better theme than to showcase our favourite BRAND NEW products.

On my first browse through the new catalogue I was delighted to find a whole range of stamps in the ‘watercolour’ style. This is a very forgiving style and it doesn’t matter if your stamp isn’t quite inked correctly or you get a bit wobbly with your stamping – it’s all part of the rough and ready look. My favourite in this range is Watercolour Words because it includes some great feature greetings along with decent sized images:

Watercolour Words (p117)
(138702) Photopolymer stamp set $45.00

My first card is one inspired by receiving my box of new goodies. I’d ordered three of the five colours of Thick Baker’s Twine and when I pulled them all out of the box it struck me how much I liked the colour combination. And it was so quick and easy to put those colours together using this stamp set. For those coming along to my Catalogue Launch this week, this is one of the cards you can choose to make at my Card Buffet!

The next sample is a card we made at Stamp Club this week. I was teaching the Ombre Technique where you create an image using graduations of the same colour. And because this stamp is Photopolymer you can line up all those words without the need for a Stamp-a-ma-jig!

For my final sample I teamed Watercolour Words with another stamp in the range, the Watercolour Wash background stamp:

Watercolour Wash (p129)
(138704) Wood mount stamp $35.00
(139538) Clear mount stamp $26.00

This card was designed for my Create & Chat class yesterday.  It was the first time I used the new THICK Whisper White cardstock. I’m so so happy we now have a crisp white cardstock that’s suitable for stamping and for using as a card base! Having it mostly white really makes the feature greeting pop! You might spot some of our new In Colours there too – Watermelon Wonder, Tip Top Taupe and Mint Macaron.

Before I go, I just wanted to give you a quick glimpse at some other stamps in the ‘watercolour’ style. Starting with a returning favourite from the last catalogue – the stamp that started it all off, and following with some fantastic 2-step stamps that allow you to build the image you want.

Watercolour Thank you (p18)
(15377) Wood Mount stamp $16.00

Watercolour Wings (p75)
(139424) Photopolymer stamp set $45.00

Garden In Bloom (p119)
(139433) Photopolymer stamp set $44.00

Well that’s it from me, now it’s time to head over and see what new products have been keeping Tina Gillespie busy at her crafting desk!

Love Story Wedding Card

It’s a Black & White wedding!

I’d been trying to work out what I’d make for my cousin’s recent wedding. I’d had a lot of traditional card ideas going round in my head and was browsing through the catalogue trying to decide what stamp set to choose when I happened to flick to the Project Life page. And I was suddenly reminded that I had both of these:

Project Life Love Story Card Collection (p147)
Includes 100 cards in 3 sizes that fit into Project Life Pocket Pages.
(135308) $28.00
Project Life Love Story Accessory Pack (p147)
Includes 8 silver foil specialty cards, 4 alphabet sticker sheets, 2 element sticker sheets, 1 silver foil element sticker sheet, 120 sequins and 1 roll of washi tape.
(135310) $17.50

Yes, these are from the Project Life range and are designed for the Pocket Pages style of Memory Keeping/Scrapbooking, but they’re so much more versatile than that. And given that my cousin’s wedding choices were black and white with very little colour it was immediately obvious that this was the perfect choice.

But the more I looked through the amazing cards the harder it was to narrow down my choices. I found a few that I loved and lay them out in front of me. I was expecting to select a card, trim it and layer it to form the front of the wedding card. But when I saw them all together I realised that I had to make use of all of them and the perfect way to do it was to make use of the matching washi tape to bind it all together.

Now you’ll have to forgive the photos because I forgot to take them before the wedding and had to sneakily grab some quick snaps before popping it into the wishing well at the reception – where even the chair matched the theme! (Well, that’s not quite true, I got hubby to take some pictures while I was getting ready to go, but let’s just say he needs some more practice at photographing cards!)

On the front I used a gorgeous card with a ‘watercoloured’ dress and added some extra embellishments:

It was the reverse side of the dress card that had me hooked on the idea of piecing the cards together with washi tape – how could I choose between the two dresses? So this is what the first inside panel looks like:

And when you open it fully it reveals a secret pocket where we put our contribution to their honeymoon. All of these cards are exactly how the come in the pack. All I did was piece them all together. On the back of the little card tucked in with the money is where I wrote our message.

Even the back of the card has a special feature:

So here’s what both sides of the completed card look like when they’re all opened out.

Once I’d hit on the idea of using the pre-printed cards as panels joined with washi tape it all came together really easily. And the finished product looks so much more effort than it actually was. I really hope the liked it!

Cheers

Farewell To My Favourite – Blog Hop

The theme for this month’s Art With Heart Blog Hop is ‘Farewell to My Favourite’, and what better way to mark the last days of our much-loved current catalogue!

There’s a lot of excitement around every brand new catalogue and everyone loves to have brand new goodies to play with but the flip side is that so many old favourites are having their last hoorah. There are 13 lovely ladies in this month’s hop so you’re going to be completely spoilt when you’ve hopped around to see what everyone’s favourite retiring products are. If you’re already on your way then you’ve come from the very talented Tina Gillespie, and you’ll find the link to the next blog at the end of this post along with a full list of participants in case you get lost anywhere along the way.

I knew I wouldn’t be able to choose just one retiring product to feature – I’m way too indecisive for that! So when I spotted how many of my favourite Background Stamps are retiring I decided I’d feature them as a category instead.

Our Background Stamps are large single stamps that cost around
$30.95 for wood mount
$24.95 for clear mount.
And they measure approx. 11.7cm x 14.4cm.

In the current 2014-2015 Catalogue you’ll find most of them on p175. Because of their large size only a small portion of each one is shown at full size, the rest is a significantly reduced representation.

There are 7 Background Stamps retiring and I have 5 of them. My absolute favourite of them is Positively Chevron:

Positively Chevron

I’ve found this to be an incredibly versatile stamp and it looks fantastic as a background on any project. It’s also really easy to use with a whole load of different stamping techniques. Here are some examples of the ways I’ve used it.

Multicoloured by sponging directly onto the rubber

Tone on tone.

Fringed in layers.

___________________________

The next background stamp is the one I got as a gift at last year’s Manager’s Reception at Convention. I’m not sure I would have jumped to buy it but once I had my hands on it I loved using it.

I Love Lace

Stamped with colour sponged behind.

Stamped to make the inside match the outside.

Embossed in silver!

___________________________

Next up is Wildflower Meadow. I really loved this when I got it but somehow managed to neglect it for a while and only came back to it again recently. Too little too late, and I really regret that!

Wildflower Meadow

Embossed onto blocks of colour.

Coloured with markers, spritzed and teamed with the matching embossing folder.

___________________________

The prize for most underestimated Background Stamp has to go to…Dictionary. I’ve had so many people look at this and wonder what to do with it – until I show them some samples that is!

Dictionary
COMPLETELY SOLD OUT!

Overstamped with subtle images for a softer look.

An unobtrusive background.

A perfect way to add texture.

___________________________

And my final one is Pleasant Poppies. Because of it’s size it’s a background stamp but because of its detail I’ve tended to use it more often as a feature image.

Pleasant Poppies

SOLD OUT IN CLEAR, STILL AVAILABLE IN WOOD!

Embossed in colour.

Bleached.

Bleached and then watercoloured.

Embossed and coloured on vellum for the Stained Glass technique.

I don’t have the final two retiring Background Stamps so I can’t show you any samples I’ve made, but just wanted to show you what they look like…

Handcarved

Mother’s Day Blog Hop

Yay, it’s time for another blog hop with some of my very talented colleagues in the Art With Heart Stampin’ Up! Team.

This time the theme is Mother’s Day! We’re a little bit on the early side so don’t panic – you have until Sunday 10th May to be ready for your celebrations.

There are 7 of us in the hop this month, and you’ll find everyone’s details at the end of the post. For now though, welcome to all, whether you’re starting here or if you’ve hopped over to my blog from the lovely, Rachel Woollard.

For my Mother’s Day projects I settled on a little mini-theme of letters and flowers. The first card gets its letters from the Little Letters Framelits Dies and it’s flowers from the Wondrous Wreath stamp set.

The Wondrous Wreath/Wonderful Wreath Framelits combination were in our recent Holiday Catalogue but have been carried over and are still available – and even discounted if you buy them together. You can see their details, along with everything else that was carried over on p49 of the Occasions Catalogue.

I love how the wreath doesn’t have to just be for Christmas, here’s a close up of it in it’s ‘Mother’s Day’ guise:

And those letters were cut using the Little Letters Framelits and the Big Shot. I taught this card at a recent Create & Chat event and left it open to every guest to choose what word they wanted to add to accompany their wreath. The individual dies made it so easy to tailor each card for the recipient.

Little Letters Framelits (p228)
(133730) $48.95

My second project gets its letters AND its flowers from Simply Pressed Clay!

When you look closer you can see that these letters really have some depth. But what you can’t see is how light they are. The air-dry clay is very easy to use and incredibly versatile. Just perfect for embellishments that won’t weigh you cardstock down.

The finished product is still a bit soft, like foam shapes, and you can colour it with ink refills before your mold it (like I did) or you can use inks and markers to colour the white clay when it’s dry.

Alphanumeric Simply Pressed Clay Mold (Occasions p32)
(137854) $16.95

Check out page 208 of the Annual Catalogue for the clay itself and more choices of molds

Simply Pressed Clay (p208)
(130685) $11.95 for 68g

That’s it from me for now, but you won’t be disappointed when you see what Judy May has in store…

Cheers

Genna

I had so much fun last month I’ve joined in on another Art With Heart Blog Hop! This time the theme is Easter! A Hop for Easter, what a great idea!

If you’ve hopped over from the blog of Kathryn Manglesdorf, welcome! There are 11 of us in this hop – all from the Art With Heart team of demonstrators – and you’ll find the links to all the other blogs at the end of this post.

Easter always manages to sneak up on me, all of a sudden summer is over and Easter is here! But at least I was prepared this year – I’d already fallen in love with the For Peeps’ Sake stamp set in the new Occasions Catalogue:

 For Peeps’ Sake (Occasions p34)
(137179) Wood Mount stamp set $42.95
(138557) Clear Mount stamp set $30.95

I’ve used this stamp set in all my creations for this hop. More and more people seem to be wanting to avoid having excessive chocolate in their households so I’ve concentrate my efforts on making cards. That way I can show people how much I care without adding to their sweetness overload!

First up I have a card I designed for one of my recent Create & Chat classes:

I loved the wavy look of the greeting and had to emphasise this by colouring it with markers in a wavy fashion.

I’m also a huge fan of chevrons for Easter. You’d have a hard job finding eggs wrapped like that in the shops now but it’s certainly a look we all associate with the patterns on Easter egg wrapping! For this card I added the chevron with the mighty Positively Chevron background stamp.

Positively Chevron (Annual Catalogue p175)
(130496) Wood Mount stamp set $30.95
(130499) Clear Mount stamp set $24.95

For my second project I had to make very good friends with my Stamp-a-ma-jig! Those eggs are actually from this single stamp that has 5 eggs in different patterns.

Although the different colours haven’t shown up very well on my photo, I used the Stamp-a-ma-jig and the masking technique to create my rows of eggs in 5 different colours!

I’m a big fan of the Stamp-a-ma-jig for getting the perfect placement of your stamps but even I have to admit when I was getting towards the end of all the eggs I was starting to get very nervous that I’d mess up and have to start all over again. Luckily my only mistake was quite early on the first time and this piece was second time lucky!

Stamp-a-ma-jig (Annual Catalogue p235)
(101049) $20.95

For my third cad I chose another time consuming but very rewarding technique – Paper Piecing. To create my three crazy chicks I stamped them out several times on different coloured paper and then fussy cut around each element and stuck them all back together to form the whole image. Just as well I love cutting! And that our Paper Snips are such super scissors!

And to head back to those fun Easter chevrons I used a piece of the Sweet Dreams Designer Series Paper:

Sweet Dreams DSP (Occasions Catalogue p39)
(137782) 12 sheets of 12″ x 12″ double-sided paper $18.95

Here’s a close up of those little cuties so you can see all the details in the paper piecing. Yes, I even cut out the dots on the egg pattern!

Finally, something much, much simpler to finish off. I did use the Stamp-a-ma-jig again to stamp my chevrons but with a clear mount stamp set you could probably get away with just eyeing it and getting them close enough. BTW, these are the same colours I used on my rows of eggs in the card above and they show up much better here as 5 separate colours!

When is an oval not an oval? When it’s an egg! It was super easy to cut out my egg with the Oval Framelits and the Big Shot and then sponge some ink around the edges to give it that 3D rounded look.

And if you’re wondering where those coloured chevrons came from, I used one of the stamps from the extremely versatile Work of Art set:

Work of Art (Annual Catalogue p165)
(134111) Wood Mount stamp set $51.95
(134114) Clear Mount stamp set $37.95

Apart from the chevrons did you spot the other common theme running through all four cards?

All four cards use Lost Lagoon as a card base – my new favourite Easter colour  – it goes with EVERYTHING!

And three of the four cards also have the Soft Sky Cotton Twine from the Painted Blooms trio:

Painted Blooms Cotton Twine (Occasions p37)
(137873) 3 rolls in 3 colours, 9.2m each. $11.95

Well that’s it from me for this time, I hope you’ve enjoyed stopping by!

MARCH CLASS – Beautiful Bouquet!

Who wants to make a Paper Bouquet?

Learn how to make each of the flowers in this bouquet and take home the kit to create the rest.

Buying the kit on it’s own costs $41.90 (with min. postage) but I’m offering you the class as well for just $40!

Because you’ll be getting the whole kit I need to have payment and bookings up front so I have time to order one for everyone.

MUST BE BOOKED AND PAID FOR
BY MONDAY 2nd MARCH!

The bouquet comes as a kit and in the class you’ll use my tools, matching stamp set and inks. You’ll learn how to make each of the flowers but the whole bouquet is quite time consuming so you won’t necessarily get it finished in class. You’ll have everything you need to finish it at home except the adhesive – a glue gun is recommended.

Have it all ready as a centrepiece for your Easter celebrations
or as a Mother’s Day gift

You can also purchase the Bouquet Kit, the matching Stamp Set and the Bouquet Die to make as many flowers as you want.

Occasions Catalogue Blog Hop

I’m really excited today to be participating in my first ever Blog Hop!

A Blog Hop is when a group of bloggers post a series of connected posts with an overall theme and you hop from blog to blog to see all the inspiration and ideas everyone has to share.

This hop is hosted by my upline’s Art With Heart team of Independent Stampin’ Up! Demonstrators. This is a very large team with members Australia-wide and it has been running since Stampin’ Up! first came to Australia. We have a very active team Facebook Group as well as in-person stamp days, challenges, card swaps, product shares and more.

I’ve been a demonstrator for over six years and I’ve been blogging for a while now but the timing has never been right for me to join in with a hop. Today is the day to change that!

This hop is all about products from our two new catalogues – the Occasions Catalogue and the Sale-a-bration catalogue! Click on the links in the sidebar to view these in pdf form, or let me know you want your own copy and I’ll pop one in the post.

Every $90 purchase = 1 one FREE Sale-a-bration product!

Remember, for every $90 you spend on fabulous Stampin’ Up! products from any of our catalogues during Sale-a-bration you’ll earn your choice of product from the Sale-a-bration catalogue for free! There are no limits and you have loads to choose from.

Starter Kit Value = $169 for $235 worth of product
PLUS 2 FREE Sale-a-bration products!

Better still, become part of this fun, friendly and supportive team and you’ll get to choose TWO Sale-a-bration freebies or 1 Occasions Project Kit in addition to the great value Starter Kit – just $169 for $235 worth of product! In addition to the support and events I provide, my team members can get fully involved in everything going on in the Art With Heart world as well! How’s that for a sense of belonging and connectedness!

It’s quick and easy to join online too. Ask me how!

Sale-a-bration offers must end March 31st!

Now on with the hop! A big hello and welcome if you’re already on your way and have come from the blog of Christine Gibbins. There’s plenty more to show you, and there are links to all the other blogs at the end of this post.

When I decided to join in with the Art With Heart team hop and knew that it was just before Valentine’s day I thought what better theme to tie the two things together than some sweetheart cards using the new Photopolymer stamp set Hello Life. It has some beautiful images and lovely sentiments perfect for creating projects to show how much you care.

 Hello Life (Occasions p6)

(137136) Photopolymer stamp set $42.95

My first project has a great big in-your-face red heart! And just in case you were missing the ‘love’ theme I added a strip of extra red hearts by using the Confetti Hearts Punch to cut heart-shaped holes in a piece of Basic Black cardstock and then mounted it on a Real Red backing panel.  No subtlety here, just a big bold expression of love!

I took advantage of those sweeping lines in the script stamps by stamping them both on my background and my foreground.

Confetti Hearts Punch (Occasions p5)

(137415) $372.95

My second project is one I taught to the ladies who came to my team gathering this week. I wanted to show how it was possible to use the left-over bits on a Dimensionals sheet to create a shaker element of whatever size and whatever shape you like.

The shaker pieces are kept contained by a piece of clear Window Sheet, which I stamped on with StazOn to form part of my greeting. The ‘you’ comes from the new Hello You Thinlits dies on p31

 Hello You Thinlits (Occasions p31)

(137363) 4 dies for $42.95

(Can be purchased in a bundle with Crazy About You stamp set)

Because the card base is Basic Black it will be very difficult to write on so I added a simple insert using a piece of Whisper White cardstock. I stamped one of the other script images from the same set to tie the whole theme together and add a bit more interest to the starkness of the white.

And there’s that Confetti Hearts Punch at work again. This time to create my ‘shaker confetti’!

My final project is a variation on one of the cards I’m doing this week in my regular Monthly Class. It’s a quick and easy one that uses collage stamping to create this wonderful waterfall of hearts. My favourite script stamp is there again to provide some balance as it stretches across horizontally, and the whole thing has been given some dimension by raising one of the larger hearts up slightly and adding a little bit of bling.

The little circles stamp comes from the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set:

Perpetual Birthday Calendar (Occasions p17)

(137167) Photopolymer stamp set $41.95

And although I didn’t manage to use this in any of my projects I wanted to finish up by highlighting this amazing stamp from the Hello Life set. For me it just really sums up what being part of this team and a Stampin’ Up! Demonstrator means to me!

Let’s keep this blog hop hopping. Next up we have some gorgeous creations from my lovely friend Nikki Sadler

Thanks for visiting today. Don’t forget to email me at  to get a copy of the Occasions Seasonal Catalogue or Sale-a-bration brochure, or to enquire about joining the Art With Heart team.

There first project is a quick and easy warm up. It’s simply the card base and a single layer of cardstock for the stamping. That’s it. The effect is in the art of collage stamping.

The second project is a Waterfall Card – a fun and interactive card that has four letter panels that cascade away when you pull the tab at the bottom.
This particular card features the word ‘LOVE’ but you can choose to create your own version by using another word such as ‘STAR’ or ‘BABY’ or someone’s name. And the hearts in the background can be replaced by any ot the other designs in the Perpetual Calendar stamp set I used so you truly make it your own!
Here are some more images of the ‘waterfall’ mechanism at work:
And the final project is actually a card in disguise. It’s a tag hidden inside a Mini Treat Bag.

It’s the perfect card to include a hidden gift voucher or small gift as well!
And all the hard work is done for you by the Mini Treat Bag die that comes with a load of accessory dies to help you decorate.
